What are Gas Fees?

The gas fee is the fee that a user pays to use a part of a networks blockchain. Take the Ethereum cryptocurrency as an example. When using the Ethereum network, the fess are used to compensate Ethereum miners for the energy used and required to verify both a transaction and provide security to the network. This also makes it expensive for malicious users to bring harm and spam the network.

This is currently a common practice among many cryptocurrency networks.
